All the ceramic forms made in my studio are handbuilt using primarily slab construction along with some pinch and coil techniques. I create and work with paper templates, cutting the clay from rolled slabs then assembling the form.
Decorative elements are made by hand and attached to the piece before firing. Some pieces are also hand carved.
The work is bisque fired then handbrushed with oxide washes and commercial glazes – then refired at cone 5.
Each handbuilt piece is an original, one of a kind work. The forms are inspired by nature and are intended to honor the sacredness of life and its transitions.
